Some 20 PPSU members from Cilangkap Urban Village, Cipayung, East Jakarta, deployed to handle puddles and broken trees in several locations, Thursday (1/11).
After the rain stopped, 30 minutes later the puddle receded completely
Cilangkap Urban Village Economy and Development Section Head, Sumarmi said the puddles and broken trees in his area occurred when it rained heavily at around 3 PM.
He explained the puddles occurred due to the high intensity of the rain and the existing drainage channels were unable to accommodate the water flow, so it overflowed onto the streets. Fortunately, puddles did not disrupt residents' activities.
Puddles on Jalan Jambore Cibubur Finally Recede"The point is prone to inundation because it is in a basin area or the lowest land. Then the water channel is small and unable to accommodate water optimally. However, after the rain stopped, 30 minutes later the puddle receded completely," he explained.
He added the puddles were spotted in four different locations. Each was in the Alamanda Housing or Cilangkap Pratama Housing in RT 04/03 with inundation with a height of around 25 centimeters. This location is a basin area and there is narrowed channel because there were many buildings around it.
Then in Gang Tongkit RT 04/04 the water high reached 40 centimeters. On Jalan Pulo Harapan 4 and 5 RT 07/06, the water level was around 15 centimeters and in Gang Tani RT 06/04 with water level reached 15 centimeters. The puddle occurred when the weather experienced heavy rain at around 3 PM.
"After the rain stopped, 30 minutes later the puddle receded completely," he expressed.
Aside that, the personnel also handled broken trees type Tabebuya on Jalan Mabes AL RT 05/04 and closed the street. In 15 minutes, the trees were evacuated already.
"Handling was done quickly because this street is an access point for vehicles entering and leaving the Navy Headquarters and in the opposite direction," he explained.
RT 04/03 Cilangkap Chairman, Mohamad Daris Salam expressed his thanks and appreciation to the PPSU personnel who routinely handle every inundation.
He added PPSU personnel helped deal with inundation by cleaning up garbage in the channels in order to prevent overflowing waters enter the culverts under Jalan Mabes AL.
"If the culvert is clogged, we find it difficult to handle," he added.
